Lentil and rice burger

RECIPE OF THE LENTILS AND EGG-FREE RICE HAMBURGERS
Today, there are many types of hamburgers. 
From the classic meat burgers, to the fish burgers or increasingly popular, 100% vegan burgers. However, this lentil and rice hamburger in particular, in addition to being vegetarian, is also vegan, because for its realization, we will only need some vegetables, in addition to lentils and rice but, 
no egg. 
Although you can always add a unit if you want. So that it bonds well and does not fall apart, 
we will use breadcrumbs. As a result, very soft and rich hamburgers. 
A great way to include more legumes and rice in our diet. Children included!

INGREDIENTS FOR 4 UNITS
100g lentils
100g of round or long rice
1 clove garlic
Olive oil
1 onion
1 carrot
1 tablespoon of paprika
50g breadcrumbs
Fresh parsley
1 bay leaf
Salt and pepper


HOW TO MAKE LENTILS AND RICE BURGERS
Time required: 1 hour.

Making these burgers is as easy as making a conventional one. Just, you have to cook the lentils and the rice

We cook the lentils. Important that in the end they are left with little broth
To do this, we put them in a saucepan, along with the onion cut into thin strips, the carrot cut into cubes, the paprika, a drizzle of oil and the bay leaf. 
Cover with water, mix and cook until soft.

Around 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the variety of lentil. It is important to note that it is better not to go overboard because we want the lentil to be soft, but very thick. 
Add less and if you see that it lacks more, gradually add more water during cooking.

LENTILS AND RICE HAMBURGER

We also cook the rice
We do the same with rice. 
In another saucepan, put a splash of oil to heat over medium heat. 
When it is hot add the garlic clove and wait for it to brown.

Once this is done, add the rice and mix everything briefly. 
Then we pour water (double the amount of rice) and let cook over medium heat for about 20 minutes. Until the rice is smooth.

Time to start preparing the lentil and rice burger
We put the rice and lentils, already cooked and without the bay leaf, in a bowl. 
Add here a pinch of salt and pepper, a handful of chopped parsley and breadcrumbs. 
We mix everything until all the ingredients are well integrated.

We shape it with our hands and cook
Once the dough is well mixed, we take a small portion with our hands and shape it into a hamburger. You can moisten your hands a little to help you in this process.

Once this is done, we introduce it on a griddle, with a splash of oil and cook well on both sides. It is better to do them in very few batches, to make sure that they do not fall apart when turning them.


We serve
You can accompany it on a hamburger bun, along with lettuce, tomato, onion and a bit of ketchup. 
Or along with your favorite ingredients

And we already have our lentil and rice burger ready. 
An easy recipe to make, which makes consuming this legume, along with rice, much more fun.
 Also, as a final note, lentils with rice are considered to be a superfood, because the proteins and vitamins that one ingredient lacks, is provided by the other.
